What is the most common method of pest control?

Chemical Control
Chemical Control. The most common method of pest control is the use of pesticides—chemicals that either kill pests or inhibit their development. Pesticides are often classified according to the pest they are intended to control.

Cockroach Control

Managing cockroaches is not easy. The first thing to do is to determine where the roaches are located. The more hiding places are located and managed, the more successful the control program will be.

Some locations may be difficult to get to. Reduction of food and water sources and hiding places is essential. If cockroaches have access to food, baits (which are a primary control tool) have limited effect and sprays alone will not eliminate cockroaches.

Ants Control

Inside buildings, household ants feed on sugar, syrup, honey, fruit juice, fats, and meat. Long trails of thousands of ants may lead from nests to food sources, causing considerable concern among building occupants.

Outdoors ants are attracted to honeydew that soft scales, mealybugs, and aphids produce. This liquid excrement contains sugars and other nutrients. Frequently outbreaks of scales and aphids occur when ants tend them for honeydew because the ants protect scales and aphids from their natural enemies.

Spraying

Although sprays may provide a quick, temporary knockdown of cockroaches, they do not give long-term control. They might just disperse cockroaches to other areas of the building from which they may return later. Also, some cockroaches have become resistant to many insecticides that formerly controlled them, Organic pesticides can be used for this kind of treatment.
In Case of an American cockroach infestation, spraying inside drainage manholes is a must, since its the perfect breeding place for them

Baiting

Bait products are the primary pesticides used to treat cockroach infestations, they are mostly packaged as pastes or gels, most insecticides used in baits are slow acting. Consequently, an effective bait program does not give immediate results but may take 5 days or longer. Baits can be quite effective for long-term control of cockroaches unless the cockroaches have other food sources available to them, baits are usually placed in hidden spots away from the reach of humans and pets.

Tip: Clean the house before the pest controller visits, and keep the house as clean as possible for long-term results. This helps eliminate competing food sources for the insects. Additionally, when the house is clean, roaches will be more easily attracted to bait rather than food sources.
